All right friends and folks. Today seems like a good day for bloggin'
It is curently 5:43 am on Thursday June 18th. My roommate Keigan has just left for what I'm sure will be a fantastic summer at my own home away from home, Camp Kodiak. Therefore, today is a bit btitersweet for me, as it is the first day of the first summer in ten years that I haven't had the pleasure of calling McKellar Ontario my summer home. This is both exciting and devastating, but today is not sadblog day, so lets move on.
Yesterday, my friends Jess and Wil, along with mself applied to lease an apartment on Robie street, quite literally 3 blocks from my university, as opposed to the 25 minute walk away I am now. I wish I had photos to share of this place's excellence. It excites me that not only will I be spending another year in the Maritimes, but also that I will be doing so in what is quite possibly the coolest house I have ever seen. We're going to need a lot more furniture, and a few HUGE canvases to cover the tremendous amounts of wall space, but I tink it will shape up quite nicely.
So, feeding off of this excitement, I'm feeling quite crafty today. So, I'm going to jump a bit outside my comfort zone, and I'm going to paint. Lord, am I going to paint. I've got plans for three pieces brewing in my head, so we'll have to see which one grabs me when the time comes. I'm excited, because I am generally more of a sewer, knitter, crafter, sort of gal, but I think this may be the beginning of a whirlwind love affair with canvas. I'll attempt a follow up post soon.
As for the rest of my life, it is smooth sailing thus far. I'm seeing a career counsellor to help me get my academic affairs in order, and she's fantastic. Hopefully I'll soon figure out a way to balance aspirations with rational life planning and work out something as kick ass as I've dreamed about for all my life.
I'm also still working at the piercing shop, once or twice a week, which has been fantastic. This weekend, actually, they're leaving me with the shop all to myself all day, as in "I'm in charge." This is HUGE for me, and while I've called in my good friend Brutus to keep me company, I think I'll do quite well running the show on my own.
Well, friends and lovers, I've got to get up and show the world something new... its off to the craft store, wish me luck in my painting experiments.
Titalatingly yours,
Ashley
